Technical Advice and Questions / Scratched bearing

So one of my connecting rod bearings is scratched out of the box, and my new crank is already in. Does anyone think it will cause a premature failure?

So I have some light marks on the inside of my timing cover, does that mean the chain needs to be replaced. I read that chains can goto 200k. I only have 76k.

You should see some metal flakes at first because gears have a protective coating from the factory, as far as your driveshaft goes you can turn the pinion a little before it hits the ring gear and that combined with your locker engaging could allow it to turn a little. Id still get it checked better safe than sorry.

Ah so when they say undersized they mean the inside diameter is smaller than original, i thought it referred to the gap. so if it is .010 undersized that means the inside is .010 smaller, and my gap is about .010. Sounds like it might work.

I went to summit and all I saw were undersized bearings, correct if i'm wrong and i hope for my sake i am but if the gap between the stock bearing and connecting rod is .010 then i need and oversized bearing to make up for the difference correct?

So I just used plastigage to check the connecting rod bearing clearance and it was .010, that is way above what it should be, do they sell oversized bearing kits or am i looking at getting a new crank?

Um if you can hear your rear axle making noise while you drive that is not a good thing. I also have a dana 44, I locked it and it made no extra noise I guess I could say, also when I regeared it(I did it myself) I went to 4.56. There is a break in period but i never had any binding and you said it jerks when you pull it outta gear? You do have A LOT more power so the pedal is more sensitive, my jeep does jerk if I go around a corner and mash the gas or if I take off to fast. Did they give you a warranty with the job?

a 15x8 will hold the bead on better than a 15x10, especially if u air ur tires down offroad.

I have an antirock and love it, if you goto jeepforum.com there is a very good write up on it. It discusses max flex vs useful flex. I like it because i still get enough flex to go over anythin gi want without having to disconnect anything.
