How much should I spend for.....
« on: January 15, 2014, 10:26:53 am »
Normally I would do this myself...but with no garage and it being just a tad too cold and wet outside....

What should I pay to have both the diffs serviced in a 2004 Grand Cherokee?

I had the oil changed the other day and they quoted me what I thought was crazy money for it....

Thanks,
Jim

Got a quote for $300 for both the front and rear and yes, they remove the covers and do it right....so, is that a decent price?

For $300 I would be tempted to travel to you and do the job.
The job takes less than an hour with approx. $70 in seals and gear oil.

Less than that since I buy gear oil in 5 gallon buckets with a pump.

Yea, I know....BUT no garage....and that's the issue right now....

I had one place try to tell me that the Grand took a 'special' gear oil for only one of the diffs....I call bullshit of course....

I should just wait till it gets warmer and take care of it....I've done the Wrangler in the past so it's no biggie....just so damn cold right now....

Limited slip rear? If so, then yes .  It requires an additive at least.
