I Go Commando
« on: October 22, 2011, 01:10:02 pm »
No, I'm not talking about my underwear habits peopel... I'm talking Jeepster Commando!!  :D

Fall is a lovely time to visit your local orchard and pick up some apples, pumpkins, and such. Who knows what else you might find? In my case, I stumbled upon this 1967 Jeepster Commando pick up/half cab:

I half heartedly asked if it was for sale, and they said it was! I looked at it again and the guy even took me for a ride in it. It actually runs pretty good. Would you believe it only has 14,848 original miles on it? They only used it at the orchard:

So I agonized over it for a couple weeks and then today I pulled the trigger and brought it home:

And tucked it into the garage with it's new big brother:

Now that's a happy garage!

The Commando is definitely a project. I'm sure I don't know what I am getting myself into, so anyone who has any Commando knowldege, parts, or resources please let me know. Heck anyone who had been dying to work on a Commando or is just really bored... I'm gonna need all the help and advice I can get.  ???

Congratulations Colli. It will be interesting to see how and to what you level you decide to restore the Commando. Look forward to seeing more pictures as the project progresses.

Found some data that indicates that there were only 2,431 of the pickups made in 1967:

I am glad you bought it. When you said you weren't getting it I kept thinking of thing I could do with it. Because I don't have enough projects now ::).

Oh and It is so complete and original. don't restore it, just make it road / trail worthy and drive it. Jeeps are only original once.

Well, if you run out of things to do on your Jeeps I'll hire you to work on mine.  :)

Oh, does that mean I'll see the Willys out on the trails?
