Cherokee Tow Limit
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:04:00 am »
What is the towing limit of a V6 Cherokee? I might be getting a 24ft camper that can be towed on a ball, but I want to know if a Cherokee can tow it.

I don't know the weight of the camper but 24ft is probably pretty heavy. As far as the 2.8 V6 goes I wouldn't tow too much with that thing  :-X . If you meant inline six then it's probably around like 3500lbs or less if it's a 5 speed. I'd check in my XJ for ya but I'm no where near it but it's a 5spd with the inline 6 and I think it's around 3000lbs. Not to say you can't tow it once or twice, my parents towed a 32ish foot camper with their XJ about 5 miles with the hitch bottoming out over bumps.  :-\

Yeah, if I had to guess from what I remember it's somewhere between 3,000-3,500lbs for that combo.

FYI is not a V6, it's an I6 or Inline 6. Going around saying you have a V6 makes people think you have the Chevy 2.8L V6. You don't want people thinking that, that was a horrible motor and leaks worse than the 4.0L.  ;D

true true!! I think it would be a little small for that, tho it will tow it.Weather or not you can get it to whoa or not in a emergency situation is another story
