Charlie, I saw your jeep at Hoaks last wednesday. It looked awesome! The KM2's are on my wish list as well. The guys at Hoaks , In my humble opinion, are the best in the area,I've spent several paychecks there.       Ron

Ron, thank you very much. Considering the rig you wheel, it's a huge compliment.

Well that's about half my salary right there, Charlie!  It's a shame that Hoak's isn't listed on the stock exchange--I'd definitely buy in!  ;D

I spent the day playing at Rausch Creek with some new friends and some old ones!  ;D

The little white YJ was the guide for the day. No carnage for the group. The worst thing was my distributor got a bit of water in it after going through one of the deep water holes. Quick fix, thanks to my navigator Andy!

(Pics posted in Non-Pa Jeeps event section!)

BTW: I really, really love my new Super Swamper SSR radials. Those tires were amazing in the mud and the wet rocks!  ;D

Got my Rock Sliderz today!  By Crikey, they're HEAVY!  I think this is what they use on icebreaker ships in the North Atlantic!  ;D
The real fun starts with the installation...

Mike,

How are the road manners on those tires?  Do they handle well on wet/snowy pavement?  Noisy?  Reason I ask is that various people have steered me away from IROC tires since I do drive my jeep on the road and the tires seem to be a real pain to balance, etc.  Since those are radials, I didn't know if they are more well-mannered than the typical SS tire.

Glass beaded and painted numerous bits and piece from the 47 Willys.   Than started to remove the tub off the 48 Willys in anticipation of beginning the sheet metal work . Trying to do something each day to keep the momentum going on this regardless of how Jenn tries to side track me with her rearend.  ;)

Looked at it and smiled.  ;D

Came back later and adjusted the parking brake. :-\

Washed mine on Sunday, may get Matthew to detail it this week. He does great work but he's expensive.  :-\

I agree Mike I love my SSR Swampers too ;D As far as the handling goes I run mine on "most of the trail rides" and they are mounted on my JK from Dec till April . I never had a problem with them in the snow or rain. You just got to drive the jeep knowing that you do not have a siped all terrain tire on when it is raining.

Mike,
How are the road manners on those tires?  Do they handle well on wet/snowy pavement?  Noisy?  Reason I ask is that various people have steered me away from IROC tires since I do drive my jeep on the road and the tires seem to be a real pain to balance, etc.  Since those are radials, I didn't know if they are more well-mannered than the typical SS tire.

Chip & Tuna have both asked about the TSL, Super Swamper, SSR, Radials. Canman posted his comments and I will add to them. Mine are the 31's but they measure out at about 31.75". The YJ is not my daily driver, so I can't comment on their "around town" handling. I run them up the interstate at 6o couple mph with no problems. I have had no problems with them on wet pavement. There is siping cut into the center 2 rows of tread which I believe really helps on pavement as well as wet rocks. I have not had them in the snow yet. I am actually surprised that they are not real noisy! I have all of the carpet and the drain plugs out of the YJ and expected them to be real noisy, but they aren't! They are amazing in the mud. They really dig in, and most importantly, they empty out real fast. We saw a buggy down in the quarry Sunday after all of that rain and his tires were loading up with that black coal mud. The SSR's tread must be designed in a way that cleans itself out, because we were traveling the same places that buggy did, including the hills with all of that nasty orange mud. So, there you have it! Two different ratings from 2 satisfied customers. BTW, there is real nice side wall protection on the SSR's too!
