I will most likely sell it off .

I just need to find out for sure if a dana 20 will bolt up .

And if so will the one I have out of a 79 CJ work or do I need to find one from an old wagoneer?

Technical Advice and Questions / quadratrac dump
« on: October 15, 2010, 10:15:25 pm »
So I have a 79 CJ7 that was quadratrac.  Rear went bad so I already replaced both rears from a non-qtrack jeep.

Was gonna ditch the 400 trans and swap in something else with a 300 transfer case but the tranny actually worked well.

I know some old wagoneers had the 400 tranny with a dana 20.

Does anyone know if one of these  or any dana 20 cases would bolt up to mine.   I know I can get an adapter to bolt on a 300 but I really don't want to lay out the coin if I can help it.

Any input appreciated.

Technical Advice and Questions / AX-15 compatibility ?
« on: March 15, 2010, 10:42:10 am »
Looking to swap an AX-15 tranny that was bolted to a 4.2 into a jeep with a 4.0 .

Does anyone know if the bell housing willl bolt up. Also it has the internal clutch slave cylinder. Will that still work?

Any help appreciated!

Technical Advice and Questions / 258 intake manifold
« on: February 25, 2010, 04:38:10 pm »
I have an intake from a 90 YJ with the 258 motor.

Does anyone know if it will fit my CJ5 with the 258 motor?

I would think it is the same block so should bolt up?

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: Jeep V8 mounts
« on: December 27, 2009, 10:45:51 pm »
Yeah,

Thats what they look like. I guess the question is are they any different from the stock 258 mounts. He is claiming they are the same and now that I am looking at the other Jeeps I have with the 258 motor I do not see a difference.

Technical Advice and Questions / Jeep V8 mounts
« on: December 26, 2009, 10:24:36 pm »
I dismantled a 1980 CJ7 with a V8 motor(304). I remembered (or at least I was pretty sure) that one of the motor mounts was different for the V8's from the 258 so I sold it to someone making the conversion. When he went to do it he said the mounts were the same as he already had. One small and one large.  That is what I sold him but I absolutely know that they were attached to a V8.

Anyone have any experience? Are the mounts different?

I suppose its possible the V8 was sorta rigged in there but it seemed to run really good and not shake or vibrate oddly??

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: cj5 axle and brake upgrade?
« on: November 21, 2009, 07:30:30 pm »
This is my wifes Jeep and its actually pretty much a stock street rig so I want to make sure I do it right.

I will probably just order the proportioning valve and master cylinder for an 84 CJ7 which is what the axles came from and do both.

Might even replace the brake lines why I am at it although I really don't want to.

Thanks for the help.

Technical Advice and Questions / cj5 axle and brake upgrade?
« on: November 20, 2009, 10:45:28 pm »
I have a 76 CJ5 with the drum brakes up front. I am thinking about upgrading to a pair of wide tracks out from an 84 CJ7. I know the rears will bolt up with little modification but I am not sure about the brakes.

Does the proportioning valve need replaced?

Would the master cylinder be different?

any help on these ? or anything else I may not have considered when making this swap.
