BMJA's first social outing for 2020 is Saturday, January 25 at the Wolf Sanctuary of PA. Click the location box to see the specific address in northern Lancaster Co. or visit their website wolfsanctuarypa.org for lots of great information. This event is open to the public and it's a good time of year to visit since the wolves are more active in colder weather. They are grouped in small packs in double chain-linked fenced land to roam freely within that area. Tours are given only once a day, at 12pm Noon, but you need to arrive earlier (at least by 11:30am) to register. The 1-2 hr tour will be walking outside from pack to pack with a guide so please dress accordingly. The guides tell you about each pack, wolf habits and share stories about the individual personalities and answer any of your questions. Fees: Adults 12 and up, $12; Children 4-11, $10; Seniors 63 and up, $11. No advance registration is needed but also note: no dogs or pets are allowed on the grounds, even if they are left in your vehicle. The wolves have a great sense of smell and are very territorial. After the tour we plan a drive to the Middle Creek Wildlife Management area. Weather permitting it could even be a backroads drive. (Some of those gravel roads through woodsy PA game lands are only one lane, no winter maintenance, and no guard rails with a +20’ drop into Seglock Run. Yikes!) Otherwise, it would be pavement roads through the area and on to nearby Kleinfeltersville for food at the K-Ville Tavern (thekville.com) We are the “Jeep and Eat” club, remember? Come join us for an informative, fun day!
I will not be attending this event. Joe Collins is the point of contact for this event.
