Just do the typical stuff shoot some oil down the plug holes ,reseal all the difficult stuff, priming the oil system is not a bad idea. Good Luck with it.

Peter,
It was my pleasure to assist you with your project, To say the environment to do such a task was challenging ,would be an understatement. Congratulations on your upgrade. I want everyone to know you did 99% of the work and all Dave H. and myself did was provide an extra set of hands and eyes.  It always put a smile on my face when someone who understands the true spirit of this sport receives an award like this.

and as far as "not pratical for a jeep in any situation" i think you need to readdress that comment! i can think of many situations that my engine has been the deciding factor when doing a steep hill climb or on steep granite wall climbs. these are the things i do with my jeep. and the added power plus torque has made all the difference in the world for me. i also run 2 steering rocks / 44" tires a 4spd with a 203/205 doubler linked frt and rr so maybe i am alittle bit ahead of you in the difficulty factor on trails?

Yeah your way ahead as far as difficulty on trails, but I stand by what I said. You are more a rock buggy than a Jeep at this point.

A Rat Engine will definitely get the WOW factor. Not practical for a Jeep in any situation but definite wow factor.  If you are looking for TRUE WOW go for a 426 Hemi. Now that something you never see.

It probably the cover. Jenn's jeep will do the samething. Go ahead and do the flush and all ,just as a preventive maintenance thing. When it comes time to find a replacement radiator good luck . I do this for a living and I can't find quality ones they are either China made $hit  or Very high end competition units.
This from Quadratec.

If you have a hum or whine the ring and pinion are not set correctly , could be pinion depth or backlash. A pattern needs to be done to see how they are meshing . The jerking you feel probably isn't from the axle, could be that you need to adjust to the new axle ratio.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: Bearing clearance
« on: March 23, 2010, 03:52:13 pm »
Look on the back side of your old bearings they will indicate  STD., .010, .020,.030.  Did you put a crank in? Hard to tell from your pics. It's very rare that you screw up a bearing and the crank is OK . It's also possible that the old bearings can be all different sizes.

Have all these part been replaced for this exact problem? The reason I ask is because it sound like a poor connection problem . All the pieces that you have replaced could cause this problem if it has a bad connection . Before you spend any money on parts double /triple check all connections starting at the battery working back to the starter and block. Than put a volt meter on the battery and check the voltage without any loads than check while you try to start if the voltage stay the same the battery is OK but should it drop lower than 10 volts you got a bad battery. Don't jump the gun and tell me you know all the connections are good, recheck them first by loosening/ cleaning and re tightening them . If any of the contact areas have paint/rust/corrosion clean to bare metal.
