I am sorry if this came across like a personal attack. It wasn't the intention. When I read the comments I was surprised. It made me feel like the club was being represented as bigots on PUBLIC forum. I thought it needed to be pointed out that we are not like that.

small evap leaks are a hard one to find with out proper diagnostic tools . it could be the sending unit on top of the tank. Maybe worth spending the money to have it checked out instead of throwing parts at it.

If you use a 700 r4 trans you can use the Jeep 231 t/c but you need to swap the input gear on the t/c from a s-10 . It's cheaper than buying the conversion kit

Not sure what you mean by replacement type. It works and I payed 40 so that what I would like for it. I'm pretty sure it's the 10 ci ,but I haven't pulled the clutch for positive id. the pt # is AMC 5461585

look at Advanced Adapters lots of good info there. Chevy V8s are the most common and possibly the cheapest.
