Muddy, thanks for the info. just got back it was sweet. GPS got me turned around and i went in the wrong way  and got a talking to. they were polite but made it clear they did not want us wheelin down there. but ran into some Cherokee Forum guys from down south and one of the locals who gave us the 411. got stuck pretty good mangled the fuel tank and broke my tow strap but was worth it, had a blast. definitely going back again.

i have a buddy of mine in from Phoenix and i want to take him out for some east coast wheelin. But i have not been out here since i moved back. Looking for some good spots i can take him tomorrow. i was just going to head to Raush creek but i see that they require two vehicles which i dont have. does anyone want to roll up in the morning? Or does anyone know of any spots i can go on a solo run?

Product Feedback / Bulldog Winches
« on: April 10, 2013, 11:02:53 pm »
bought this winch sometime ago. it is a Bulldog 9500lb unit. i had only used it a few times and seemed to work well enough. then it sat idle for a year when i went to use it, it did not work. so more time passes when i decide i am going to fix it. i opened up the solenoid box (which is built to be weather proof) to find it half full of water and everything rusted beyond recognition. i would definitely not recommend buying this winch as you will not get more than a few years out of it considering the poor construction of the controls. the only good thing with this winch company (unlike other economy winch builders) is that they sell replacement parts online. So i will be rebuilding the control box but i see that i will have to relocate it under the hood as to not have a repeat of this crap.

General Discussion / Re: Switching to a XJ

i am sure that would increase my local status. i would love to keep it and add the xj but i think my wife might get overwhelmed if there was a third jeep in the drive way. maybe i could convince her it gets the same mileage as the Camry.

Thanks Jenn. I will definitely defer to them when the time comes. First I have to over come my fear of letting go of the wrangler.  I am afraid I will miss it..

Still up in the air. Right now I am putting some money into the TJ since it has been neglected for a while. Just little stuff. I am still window shopping for an XJ.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: tire question versus PA law
« on: March 14, 2013, 04:51:51 pm »
There is definitly things you can do with the offset to move the tire out further but as you push the weight of the wheel and tires out it increases the stress the ball joints. It is a fine line.

I was to involved in any of the set up for this so I do not know anything that is not  listed here.  See you there.

looking at upgrading my headlights. getting tired of not being able to see at night. Does anyone have any recommendations on the many different types and manufacturers?

Also looking to install something under the hood for connecting various electrical do-dads. i know they make something but not sure where to find them. Any suggestions?

Connecting electrical do-dads? Can you narrow that down some? Might you be looking for relays, terminal strips, barrier strips,or just a second battery.
What kind of do-dads?

well i suppose it would be a add on fuse box. something with one tie in to the batt and then multiple outputs to connect all the after market equipment.

WHY CHANGE HEADLIGHTS JUST ADD FOGS.

well i already have offroad lights on the windshield and i have a winch so i dont want any more lights mounted nor do i want anything else blocking the radiator. i know they make lots of different upgrades for the headlights just dont know which ones are any good

i do agree that going cheap is a gamble. and i have seen more expensive product go to hell way to fast. But i will say this  not to likely i will be getting rid of the jeep any time soon. i have  had it since 03.

what kinda jeep are you putting it on. ive seen junk from all the companies. sometimes you just get crap. but ive seen many 600 bumpers dented and rotted out as well as cjeapie home builts. and if your not going to use it to its fullest then its kinda a waste to spend that much.

it is for a 99 wrangler. more than likely it will never see anything larger than a 33" tire on it. and i only run steel rims since they are easier to repair on the trail.
