I was hoping to go out on the 24th. Now that we're closer to the date, is anyone else interested? Anyone available to guide? Anyone, anyone...  ??? I can't go on Oct. 1st.

I talked to the Canadian Military "Jiffy Jeep" team at the Bantam festival about what it takes to get them to come to show. They gave me the contact information for the public affairs office at their base to make a request. All you have to do is contact them and request that they come to the show and the command decides which events they go to... and they perform free of charge!! In case anyone doesn't know - they are the group that takes a military Jeep completely apart and puts it back together in just a few minutes. It was a big hit with folks at the Bantam show. I turned the contact information over to Jenn to take it from there.

Vendor Feedback / Experiences / Re: Wyvon Audio

Update - After having my system installed way back in December, my rear speakers quit working at some point. I'm not really sure when they stopped working since I don't sit back there, but I just noticed it recently. I went back to Wyvon to have him fix it, fully expecting to pay for the work this far out from the initial install.  Well, Wyvon fixed the problem and even adjusted the audio volume for my XM/Sirius component at my request and would not take a dime. Even though the issue was not due to any error or flaw on his part, he considered it part of the installation and vowed to stand behind his work. That Wyvon is a really decent guy. Check him out if you need anything car audio/electronics wise:

CRJeepin - Nope, no guide book. Just years of going up there and driving around the woods and a good old "Maine Atlas and Gazeteer":

I wouldn't go into the woods without it. You can find almost all the dirt roads and camp sites in that map book. My folks are from Maine so I've been exploring the back woods up there for many years. We're in Caratunk on Pleasant Pond, close to great whitewater rafting on the Kennebec River. It's also not too far from Greenville and Moosehead Lake which is a huge lake with lots of recreation, and a few shops and restaurants. It's way up in the wilderness, lots of old logging roads and snowmobile/ATV trails nearby to explore in a Jeep! We just stumbled upon that mountain top campsite while we were exploring one of the ATV trails. I could tell you how to find it, it's in the middle of nowhere. The state maintains a bunch of random camp sites just out in the middle of the woods up there. The ones on state land are free, and there are also some that you pay for in a huge managed land area called the North Maine Woods. Check it out:

Here's some pictures of some of my previous Maine Jeep adventures:

I'd highly recommend the Greenville, Moosehead Lake area for a Maine woods Jeepin' vacation!

Oh, and I forgot to mention - there were 3 local wineries at the show giving tastings. Surely someone whose screen name is "winemaker" would appreciate that.

winemaker - I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I don't know if you have participated in many parades before, but it is pretty typical to spend most of your time waiting, and waiting, and waiting. It's sort of like an egg timer. All that sand can't get through the tiny opening at once so it takes some time. With over 1200 Jeeps all trying to get to the same street at speeds slow enough for people to look at everything, it was bound to be agonizingly slow. I was there too and I thought they actually did a decent job of organizing everyone in the different color coded lots and there was tons of volunteers to help direct everyone. Sure, there are some things that they could have done better... like the really long wait inside at registration... but it was their first time so I have to cut them some slack. I'm sure they will learn from this year and make some changes to make it better next year. I agree that our show runs pretty smooth, but this was our 16th year so we've had some practice. I have not been around since our first show, but I would imagine we experienced some growing pains as well along the way. Anyway, its a shame if you didn't come out to the rest of the events on Saturday because although there were some things that could have been run better there too, it was a fun event. Thanks again for the kind words about our show.

So who all is going to this? I know I have heard a bunch of folks talking about, but I was wondering who will actually be up there from the club. Should we maybe make an effort to meet up at some point somewhere as a group? Maybe we should show our club unity and all wear club staff shirts?

Just got back from my annual pilgrimage to Maine with the Jeep. Went out into the wilderness for some primitive camping this year. Here's some shots of the adventure:
