Technical Advice and Questions / Re: flywheel ring gear...loose!

Its a press fit, you may need to have a new ring pressed on.
May have been the wrong one or it may have cracked.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: YJ U-Bolt Skids?

Angle grinder worked for me, they sure poped more than I expected. :o
I made and welded my disco mounts to my axle tube, keeps them up out of the way. In the rear I made and welded brackets to the skidder pad to keep the "pins" up about 1" higher than intended. One of the rear ones did get bent last year, but I'm pretty sure it would have been trashed like many times before I did the relocating.
The skidder pads came w/ my RE kit so Im not sure what brand they are. Well worth the money either way.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: Wheel Bearings

The first thing I thought of is the torque of the stub shaft nut.
I think the $1200 is a lot of cash, for that you could buy Mopar ones and still have $ left over.
I like being able to unlock my hubs (CJ 30) untill it snows (and there unlocked while I'm driving), or I'm repacking the front wheel bearings (w/ new seals) just becouse I wanted to check them, or the worst is when I'm replacing them couse they get contaminated with H2O.

I thought you had to get it up to temp and at idle to do the Nutter?

I think the Carter is like 390, not sure.
I did see that they do sell a 470 and depending on your cam that may work for you.

I think you want it to run as best as you can get it to run before you do the Nutter.

I have read good things about the MC2100

What CFM is the Holley double pumper? I was thinking the offroad one but the small one is still 600CFM.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: Squeal from the serp belt
« on: December 11, 2007, 10:52:19 pm »
Sounds like the new belt may have become dirty w/ the ATF that was on the pulleys. Maby wash it off w/ mild soap and water.
Mine has a serp. belt and the crank pulley and balancer are all one, I think yours is also.
Good luck.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: new wheels for my tj
« on: November 07, 2007, 06:03:17 pm »
As Norm said you should have a 8" rim for those 12.5s, you will have to check to see what you have.
The big problem is the backspacing with 12.5 they will hit your LCAs when you turn. If so you need rims with less backspacing, wheel spacers (not legal), or go with a 10.5 tire.

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: rebuild rear
« on: November 04, 2007, 01:43:38 pm »
35=rubber fill plug                44=threaded fill plug
You may be able to buy a complete used axle for less than a rebuild, depending on what you need to replace. If your just putting new bearings and seals and your doing it yourself than a rebuild would work. But if you need R+P side gears etc. junk yard may be the ticket.
More info would help. (tire size, rear end type, dif. ratio, manual or auto, 4 or 6 cyl.) Maby this is the time for a gear drop, but dont forget about the front end if you change rear gear ratio.
