Sold the the TJ and the M38 awaits my love (and wallet) so haven't been active in quite a while.  Thought of this group though when I saw this on another site:

Feel free to nuke this post if it is not within the guidelines.  I have nothing to do with the site etc.

Mike,
You do your own sandblasting?  Anybody you recommend in the area for sandblasting and painting/powercoating smaller parts (like your steps)?

Technical Advice and Questions / D30 Pinon Seal (97 TJ)
« on: December 23, 2009, 11:27:49 am »
Found my front pinon seal has started to seep.  Checked on line and found the seal at Napa (part NOS 15791) for about $40.  4wd.com had one for $4

http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=6178

Is that the right seal or is that something different?  The price difference has me wondering.

TIA

I am in that situation myself and it sucks but to get back on topic:

I have a set of brand new and never  installed Super lift soft ride spring for a CJ2a  These are military wrapped at one end and near stock height.  They do not have bushings.  These are what is on my  1946.  If you are not interested I will probably trade them to Vintage jeep for a motor or motor parts if I can.  It is becoming apparent that after a year of trying my engine is not going to free up.  I need replace it or my estimate at the beginning of last week was $1600 to rebuild the L134 cid.    Congrads on the flatty though.

Just curious as to where you got the quote and what all that included.

TIA

That is sharp.  I'd be jealous but I don't think mine will ever be that clean again.  Good for you.
Does this mean you'll have a lot of stuff for the swap meet?  I could use a straight stock front bumper.

Technical Advice and Questions / Impact T-55
« on: July 14, 2009, 09:30:49 am »
The steering skid plate on my TJ is bolted up through the bumper into the frame with a T-55 torx bolt.  It is stuck in there pretty good and started to twist my t-55 socket last night when I was trying to break it loose and remove it.  I can't get to the threads to use PB blaster etc as it is captured in the frame.  I was looking to get an impact T-55 and try it with an impact wrench but they seem to be hard to find.  Any advice or anything to look for in the descriptions?

In case you are wondering, I am taking it off to get it and a few other pieces blasted and coated to stop some of the rust that is starting to win the battle.

Also, assuming I can find one, anyone got a 1/2 in impact driver in the Palmyra area that wouldn't mind giving this a shot once I get the socket?

TIA

I added an underhood trouble light.  Similar to this one:  http://starparts.chrysler.com/info/default/k6869492.pdf

but one I got off of ebay.  My old one failed and this seemed like a handy replacement.

Thanks for the info.  Like I said I am more than willing to work the event and will try to get the Jeep registered this week.

I am planning on working at the event and should be available after work on Friday.  Should I still register the Jeep or how does that work?  I am new to the area so have never even been to the show.

I am willing to work where ever needed but am getting lasik the weekend prior so probably should be sensitive to that (i.e. avoid dusty areas I would think).

Thanks
Chip
