Technical Advice and Questions / weber carb install on CJ7
« on: February 08, 2012, 10:51:11 am »
bought a brand new weber carb for my 86 CJ7 258 I6 having problems getting the thing adjusted.  have adjusted the mixture screw over and over and cannot get the thing to run right, has no power just seems like it is not getting enough fuel, replaced fuel filter, checked timing and plugs, wondering if maybe it needs bigger jets.

General Discussion / Re: Jeep Door Law!

so if doors were an option on a CJ by the law you do not have to have them on, because they are not original equipment you are not altering anything by taking them off.  That is what I am understanding. where could I get written proof that doors were an option on CJ's that way if I get pulled over I could shove it in the cops face, don't get me wrong I am not a break every law kind of guy but there are a few of these B.S. laws that Pa has. Most of the cops around here don't care but we have a certain few that think they are super cops and have to push dumb laws like this instead of fighting real crime.

General Discussion / Jeep Door Law!

does anyone know what it would take to get this law changed, I think it is pretty ridiculous, most of the cops in my area don't even bother you when your doors are off, but there is a few that think they have to push it. I mean hell you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet but you can't drive a Jeep without the doors that are meant to be removed. If anyone know what it would take to take care of this and would be interested in fighting it you can count me in!

I have an 86 CJ-7 with a stock Carbureted 258 inline 6 cyl, 4 speed tranny.  I have a whining noise coming from the engine compartment somewhere, usually doesn't start till the engine has warmed up and once it starts it doesn't stop checked all my vacuum lines replaced the gasket on the base of the carb, nothing noise is still there, while it is idling if you give it some gas the noise goes away so I am think I may just need to replace the carb.  If you have any ideas on what this may be please send them my way before i go wasting money on a new carb.

My name is Joe I am from Central Pa, proud owner of a 1986 Jeep CJ7 4" Rough Country Lift, 33" Maxxis Bighorns bought the Jeep a little over a year ago and have little by little been improving the off road capabilities and the looks of it, not a professional look by no means but definitely get alot of good response on the work I have done to it, eventually gonna do a complete body off restoration.  Spent alot of time in prior 4x4's just light off roading and playing in the mud, but looking to step things up and get into some more serious off roading.
