Title: 13-July-2013 seven days and a wake up
Post by: HANGMAN on June 13, 2013, 12:26:22 am
Can't believe the show is this close and not a lot of chatter on the forum yet  ???
Title: Re: 13-6-13 Thirty seven days and a wake up
Post by: hillbilly on June 13, 2013, 10:01:55 am
we talk about it at the meetings all the time.  ;), lots of chatter, Ian Johnson will be back this year, new tshirt designs, new trophy designs, its not the TOYOTA arena anymore, Quadratec being bigger this year, JEEP underground will be back, musical entertainment. I painted the jeep, the boys is actually running and driving. and weve talked to just about every Jeep owner within shouting range about the show and a lot of people are syked(?) and ready to go. I think Bantam stole a lot of our excitement because its first, im sure after Bantam is over more people will be chattering. ???

I like our show better. We have way more Jeep parts vendors and a swap meet section.

Yes, Bantam had a scented candle vendor, a basement waterproofing vendor, and a chiropractor. They'll take anyone's money, Jeep related or not. Although an argument could be made for the chiropractor.

So, I guess you never had to make a trail repair by candle light, also good to keep the hands warm in January while making that trail repair.
As with the basement waterproofing, best place to test the Jeeps under water capability would be your basement filled with water, (water can't get in water can't get out) in the convenience of your own home.

You don't see vendors like that at our Jeep Show any more because it's not what our participants want.
I could jam the place with hundreds of that nature but we're not "all about the money" like Bantam is.

I attended Bantam and have some very disappointing stories. They'll NEVER learn because it's not ran by "Jeepers". They have NO clue.

Did they have replacement window and timeshare vendors?  Gotta have those to round out the field of unnecessaries.

I look @ it this way. Every event is different. Some have a better turnout than others. It all depends on how the show is organized. I heard alot of cool things about Bantam. My WJ should be completed B4 next years Bantam show. I'm planning on taking a trip out to the show next year for the 1st time.

every jeep show needs "women" tents, you want new rims your wife wants Tupperware, etc. and every show is different ours is primarily and number one about jeeps and the 4wd community, and family.

It would be cool if the annual Women's Show at the fairgrounds in autumn would have suspension kits and welders for the bored men walking around...hehe.

I got a little jump on cleaning out and up the Jeep for Stetler's Jeep Show last month.
When I drive past the Fair Grounds I get a slight rush of anticipation of all the Jeeps coming in, the vendors and the work that will need to be done. :P

I'm coming up from Southern Maryland and July 20-21 can't get here quick enough. I'm only putting my 2012 JGC in the show and shine, but I can't wait to check out all of the other vehicles, demonstrations, and watching others on the trails.  :)

Well today just before noon I saw a Jeep go by up on West Market St. (York) with a jamboree rack on the rear heading east :), then came another one on the heels of the first one :) :), then a third :) :) :) and a forth :o :o :o :o how cool and on an off day at that, a caravan of Jeeps with jamboree racks, I say caravan because two Jeeps make up a patrol , you know like "RAT PATROL" the TV show.
I guess they may be heading to Carlisle for the Show, WOW just think about that, four BIG SHOWS this close together, THE PA JEEPS SHOW, (THE BEST), Chryslers & Jeeps at Carlisle, Bike Week in Gettysburg And the Muscle Car Show in York, what to do, what to do? ???
Do I fire up the 74' Jeep CJ-5, (dirty and slow) even so, it is an AMC, (you know I consider the Jeep an orphan, it's been with so many Auto manufacturing  families since its creation)  or the 70' Dodge Charger (clean and fast),  >:D I wonder how much a speeding ticket is now a days?

Isn't it nice to have options?  ;D
If you want to find out about the fine, try Roosevelt Ave. north of Rt. 30 on a weekend night after dark.  Speed traps for easy revenue.

Got home about 8 last night, asleep by 9. What a weekend. Had a great first time and will definitely be back next year. Want to say thanks to PA Jeeps and all of the sponsors for a great show and weekend. Also want to say thank you to all of the guys giving people rides on the rocks, it was GREAT. I may have hot rodded my JGC, but now I want to build an off roader. Again thanks for a great weekend.

Had a great time guys! Had a lot of fun on the course! It was very well laid out and you could tell a lot of work went into it! The balancing ramp was also a great addition. It was hard, but pretty darn fun!

Once again it was a great weekend! Can't wait for next year! Thanks for the great time!!

Finally getting a chance to jump on here and commend you guys on another great event. It was only our second year attending and we had a great time once again. The obstacle course set up was great, the double lane rock trail was a great idea, well  I could go on forever with many praises but you get the point, ha ha. We had a sweet spot set up next to the show field to camp and really enjoyed the show. Now it's another year of promising to my kids, "YES, we are going to York for the Jeep show" LOL. Thanks again guys, your hard work is truly creating memories and probably future "jeepers", wellll... At least 3 more that I know of ;)

Well here is the count of the Jeeps and other unidentifiable vehicles that crossed over the Log Bridge, on my watch,
Saturday 1:00 - 5:00 no less then 398, one slipped a tire off and reversed to get back up on the logs.
Sunday 8:00 - 2:30 no less then 468, one slipped a tire off and went forward to get back up on the logs, both drivers recovered skillfully.
At one point I had to leave to help recover, with the bob cat, a Jeep stuck on the inter rock trail, and a back up spotter took over the Log Bridge, well he gave the position back to me quicker then you can say "NO NO, YOUR OTHER LEFT!" I did  not see what happened, but heard it was an interesting incident.
My guess is 25% of the drivers did not watch the spotter, maybe they can't see the bright orange shirts, it's mostly guys that don't watch the spotter.
Drivers would pass me and say "The Log Bridge and it's entrance was more intimidating and difficult then the Rocks". Humm, I don't know what to say about that.
I hope to look at photos that other people post on the forum so I may get to see other parts of the show, I know everybody appreciates the photos also, thanks in advance.
Everything crossed the Log Bridge from narrow track, with no room to spare on the inside logs, little old WILLYS, no disrespect on old, to something BIG and GREEN called T-REX, with a very wide track and no room to spare on the outside logs. All in all the drivers did very well crossing the Log Bridge safely.
Oh, and a few Jeeps must have been running a shuttle service around the course, they went over the Log Bridge many times and were counted each time.
It looked like the spotters had there hands full many times on the BIG ROCKS, it was nice having two rock trails, kept it real interesting all day long.
