Title: 258 pulse air system
Post by: CJAKE7 on April 25, 2013, 04:37:07 pm
Hey all, I have a 85' cj7 with a 258. I just completed Carter BBD removal in place of a Weber. As I was working on it, I noticed the pulse air system is more than likely not functioning properly(rust in the air cleaner and other signs). From what I read I don't really need the system since I went to the Weber(also have Antique tags so emissions is not an issue). Can I just cap things off, or do I need to keep anything connected for it to run properly. After I have this system isolated, I would like to do a Nutter bypass as well. Any info/expirence would be helpful.

If you took the BBD off I'm not sure how your going to do the Nutter bypass. Most of what I remember it's to bypass the stepper motors on the back of the Carter BBD carb, wich you took off ::) Or are you going to take out the computer all together?  As for the the pulse air system, to remove parts that let dirty exhaust into a clean intake and make the engine run bad, don't sound like a bad thing to take off to me.
