I just noticed that one of the bands that goes around my XJ's leaf springs is split open at the top on
both
sides of the vehicle (The middle set). It's a little gap but it's not falling off or anything. Do you think that it's OK to ignore it?

are they the spring pack straps? same ones on both sides? are they split or open most come from factory open. they work like a big staple and wrap around.

(Sent you a PM...don't know if it went thru, so I'll reply here). Yes, same ones on both sides. They are standing up, but not enough to fall off. Since they are rusty I didn't know if it would be a good idea to try and force them back down or not.

pm got and sent. if it bothers you too much you can go to autozone or similar and they carry bolt on spring clamps kinda lookk like a square muffler clamp.
