Title: Small evap leak blues
Post by: JKennedy on September 06, 2010, 10:17:26 pm
So I've had my check engine light on forever and a day, with the small evap code. I have tried several gas caps, redid the lines in and out of the gas tank, and replaced the purge solenoid. All I see left to replace are the little special 90s and smaller hoses around the evap box, but can't seem to find a match at parts stores. Anyone have any luck finding these leaks themselves?

small evap leaks are a hard one to find with out proper diagnostic tools . it could be the sending unit on top of the tank. Maybe worth spending the money to have it checked out  instead of throwing parts at it.

That's what I thought it was going to come down to. I had a couple shops tell me that its not uncommon for a small evap not to show up on the smoke test and that's the only diagnostic tool they have. Just making sure I didn't miss something easy to do.
Thanks for the advise Dave!
