I will post pictures soon.

-
You go girl..... ;D
Erica

I think you got a winch and some other stuff too ;)
-
I think you got a winch and some other stuff too Wink
yeah i second that.
-
She can bolt that winch to the garage wall and use it to move her Willys in and out! ;)
-
Ha Mike you funny guy! I will have my Willys moving soon you just wait and see! ;D
-
"Wait and see?" I want to come over and help spend your money on it! ;D
-
I think you all have a Willys fetish.
-
I do have a willys fetish! LOL :D
Anyway I just found out yesterday I no longer have a job. So Mike I don't know when you can help me spend money but you are welcome to come down and help install the stuff I have now.
-
Anyway I just found out yesterday I no longer have a job.
Aww, Jenn--That SUX!!! :'( And after all the fun that you had last weekend!
You'll find something else, I'm sure. Just enjoy your free time while it lasts! :)
-
I think you all have a Willys fetish.
And WE think you are suffering from Willys Envy! :D
:-*
-
Jenn:
I have some NOS (new old stock) Willys exhaust manifold gaskets and downpipe flange gaskets that I bought a few months ago. I think they may fit your 2A. Let me know if you need any (for free, cuz I like you) ;) and we can check the numbers to see if they match. I actually have a full original W/O box of each! Gotta love eBay! ;)
-
I no longer have a job.
You still have that Bag (sex gadget whatever) party thing going don't ya??? :-[
-
Crap Jenn....I'm sorry.... Matt may be with you there soon..... we're keepin our fingers crossed!!!
-
sorry to here it jenn, but welcome to the world of jeep time. still doesnt seem to be enough of it or maybe its too many jeeps ....
-
Damn Jenn, that really stinks! ...and Matt might be in that boat too? CRAP!! When does that stimulus package start to help someone we know? I'm really sorry. BJ >:(
-
NO Job i know how that is i have not worked since January. maybe we need a jobless support group on the forum.
-
Lucent posted their figures yesterday and held off on the layoff that was supposed to be tomorrow....but they said they will revisit the situation Aug/Sept.....so still a waiting game.... :-\
I hope if he needs surgery again that doesn't increase his chances of getting his pink slip..... :(
Erica
-
Sorry Jenn, I'm serving my fourth week of furlough and the company could still have a layoff. :-[
-
I am in that situation myself and it sucks but to get back on topic:
I have a set of brand new and never installed Super lift soft ride spring for a CJ2a These are military wrapped at one end and near stock height. They do not have bushings. These are what is on my 1946. If you are not interested I will probably trade them to Vintage jeep for a motor or motor parts if I can. It is becoming apparent that after a year of trying my engine is not going to free up. I need replace it or my estimate at the beginning of last week was $1600 to rebuild the L134 cid. Congrads on the flatty though.
-
I am trying to put mine back to original condition. If they look like the same spring we can talk. (if i can afford them- day 3 no job)
Send me a PM on a price or trade Jeremy
-
You only live once so what the hell I Dave and I purchased a parts donor for my Willys......
I will not be using the hood or the tailgate off of this Willys I will be using my original. Any parts I do not use will be for sale.
Mike you are invited over for wrenching parties......I will supply various beverages ;)

I don't know...there's almost enough there that Mike might wanna restore it rather than tear it apart!
Hehe, I thought that you had gaping holes in your garage walls until I saw that you were blurring out certain signs!
-
We can definitely make one whole CJ2A out of the 2... that's one of the reasons the early CJ's are so much fun to work with! ;D

Just curious as to where you got the quote and what all that included.
TIA

Well I changed the oil in the ole girl today. Changed the air filter. Dave had been working on rebuilding the water pump and putting new ani-freeze earlier this week. So I told him I just want to see if it runs and drives. I had him hillbilly wire her up so we could start her. Took some coaxing but she turned over and started. Smoked for at least 5 minutes (I don't have any mosquito's in my yard, LOL)then we took it for a test drive up and down the street. I felt like a kid at Christmas!! So its alive!!!!!
I backed her back into the garage and we started taking some parts off we will be putting on the other body. Now we may just make quick work of this project. I hope to have the body and other parts switched over before Mikes Willys show.
-
Jenn, sounds pretty cool.
I hope to have the body and other parts switched over before Mikes Willys show.
That whole sentence is loaded with some freaky undertones. 8)

hey i was poking around on craigslist and came a cost a guy parting out a 47 cj2a just thought i would let ya know
http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/pts/1299731381.html
-
LOL Charlie.
Hey Mike check out that link for another project for you. :DLOL
I do truly believe if I ask Dave for one more Jeep he will flip out on me. When we get the Willys done maybe I can talk him into a CJ8. Chances are though he is going to want a new motorcycle.
-
Thanks for the link, I responded to it, we will see where it goes from there.
Believe it or not I know the seller,( CV4W member way back when) Going to try to look tomorrow, There is a very good chance that I will be acquiring a donor jeep as well. Jenn, what specifically do you need to get yours running (better)?
-
Glad i could help at least all my time i send of craigslist ain't totally wasted.
-

There are some people that can read between the lines, but I think Charlie has the "strange" ability to read Behind, Under and Around the lines :P
:-*

-
Yeah the new one was my b day present. What an awesome present!

Better chain my CJ8 project to the house! :o
I wish I could have been there for the maiden voyage! (have to be careful with the wording here since Tuna is on the prowl!)
I did warn you about the smoke! I remember the first time I pulled my Willys out... it smoked for a few minutes... :-[
-
Once again...I will not comment from the "peanut gallery"..... ;)
Erica

i think ky (not steve) makes something for that mike. ???
I used to wonder how "KY Steve" got his unusual name until I found out he came from Kentucky! :-[ ;)
-
LOL Mike you did have the best looking Willys! ;D
-
moderator, moderator!!!! come on mikes is nice but its all yellow..
-
Ms. Jenn: I sincerely apologize for inadvertantly hijacking your thread. I realize that you have 2 Willys to play with now, and the focus of this thread needs to be on them. I will attempt to refrain from further suggestive electronic missives.
NOT! :-*
-
Oh Brother!!! ;D
-
I don't kare whoo U are, This here is some funey stuff :D
-
Being new to the group and having only briefly met Hillbilly when he told me where to go at the show :), I have to ask:
If I had a yellow Willys, and Hillbilly said it was nice should I worry? What if I used to have a green one? ???
-
"KY Steve" got his unusual name until I found out he came from Kentucky! :-[ ;)
OH... I thought someone told me "...Man, he's one Slick dude" :-\
-
If I had a green one?
If your Willys is green, I'd say it ain't ripe yet and don't pull it, er, I mean, pick it....
-
I'm laffin two hard 2 tipe rite! ;D
-
ROTFLMAO!!!!
Its ok Mike we are all just having fun!
-
If I had a green one?

Oh my, it's a good thing I didn't mention the white stars on it....... :o Or that I don't have a Willys anymore...... ::)
-
I looked at the Shippensburg CJ2a today, and bought the engine for $150. I pull it on friday. This means that mine may run in the near future. The rest of the jeep is very very rough. It came from Summerset County PA (where they use salt on the roads during 9 months of the year) It has a snow plow, a willy's wagon grill and rear bumper, It has been completely plated over in aluminum sheet metal which trapped salty water against the body, It is completely rotten. The frame is straight but rough and the drive train is good, It did start and move under its own power. The springs are completely shot. the seats were already sold. If you need drive train components they can be had very reasonably (less engine, its taken) I did NOT look to see if it had a PTO or overdrive, but I did not see it while I was walking around it. It does have a clean title and vin if you are building one from scratch, All gauges and control appear to be functional and complete.
-
Thanks Jeremy.
I get my 48 delivered tomorrow I am going to go through it and see what I need and don't need.
Hey Mike can you give me stock height from body to ground on your willys (oh we are going to need the moderater)
also if you would like you can come over tomorrow if you would like and see my new Willys. I should have my new one by 2:30.
Oh my, it's a good thing I didn't mention the white stars on it....... :o Or that I don't have a Willys anymore...... ::)
I am so sorry you don't have a willys anymore.... :P LOL
-
Jenn.....i'm glad you said about the moderator before I could comment....
If he comes up with some HUGE measurement........ :o
erica :-[
-
that I don't have a Willys anymore...... ::)
I think I red somewar that somethang like that will cause your voice to go up a couple of octaves ???

Wait a minute, let me get this straight. You are willing to show me yours if I give you the measurements of mine? ;D Hell, I'm gonna get mine out and we can compare them... what time should I be over? :-*
(BTW: How good a shot is Dave?) :-\
I do have a CJ2A / 3A Service Manual that is now in a 3 ring binder that you can borrow. It will have all of the OEM Specs you are looking for. My ride height is probably different from your original, since I am running 7.00x16 NDCC's with new repro springs. The 40's models ran 6.00x16 ND's.

I know that happens if I slip getting out of my Wrangler. :'(
It was painful to let go of my green Willys with the stars. And the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania even considered it an antique. ;D
-
Wait a minute, let me get this straight. You are willing to show me yours if I give you the measurements of mine?
Getting it *straight* is crucial for accurate measurement. 8) (I had to say something--you all were having too much fun)!
-
It may be hard to get an accurate measurement...
Glad to add a little Wobble to the fun! ;)
-
Great video of a guy getting his Willys up...WAY up! :o

and I thought I was bad. :-\
-
Jenn was a lucky woman last evening... when she got home from "boot camp" there were 3 Willys waiting for her!
She got a lot of nice spare parts for her CJ2A including a radiator support rod. She even allowed me to have 4 screws that I have been wanting for several years. Flatties take a special screw with wings for each of the oil bath brackets. Jenn already had the correct screws for her Willys and really made my day by giving me what I needed! (Y'all can get your dirty little minds out of the gutter now!) ;)
-
Oh, so many comments to be made........ ;D ;D ;D
I just can't - I'll be banned forever. :D :D :D
-
ROFLMAO!!!!!
I wont even comment on that :-X
Yea I gave Mike 4 screws for payment of helping work on the CJ2 sometime. Funny how he took them and left though, something about getting home before dark.... :P
Hey I got the body off today.I should say Dave unbolted everything then we lifted it off. Then took the air hose and blew (oh this is just so bad) the willys off. I have pictures of all the dirt and rust that came off of it. Clumps of mud and grime caked all behind the tranny.
I will be posting picts soon, it is hard because I grab the laptop and sit in the living room and my program for my camera is on the regular computer. Guess I should install it on my laptop as well.
-
I've got a few extra parts and some hard to find reference books for our Willys from working on my 46 CJ2A. If you need anything, let me know.
-
ok I got my pictures on the computer now. Here is what we got.

the floors don't look to bad but the under side of the body was completely gone. I need to get picts of bottom side of the tub.
-
Man, it was really foggy that day!...or not. ;)
Nothing a little Bondo can't fix, right, Jenn? :)
-
It smoked for a good 5 mins.
And I don't think they make enough bondo for all the holes this thing has.
-
That's one smokin' Willys!
I know someone that once welded all the pin holes in an MB - he counted something like 10,000 before he was finished. I don't think he'll tackle that floor pan though. I'm surprised there was still some wood left under it.
-
Herculiner + tin and pop rivets + some diamond plate = body on life support. Rusty does have a nice cj5 roll bar that should bolt right on there, I think it was $25 or so.
-
A classic like that deserves complete metal replacement...NO BONDO OR RIVETS...I'm sure Jenn will agree.
-
Jenn:
Your photos are bringing back so many fond... and not so fond memories! >:(
I think my thirst for beer increased significantly during the restoration process! Maybe that's why I keep tinkering with Ol' Yeller... so I can justify my thirst for beer. (Hey, it sounds good! Besides, I know a guy with a blue CJ5 that will probably cover my 6 on this claim!) ;)
BTW: Aren't you glad I warned you about the smoke? :o
-
You know, you might have a rare mosquito control CJ. They were an adaptation of the WWII smoke-screen concept. :D
-
Got the fenders and grill off yesterday.
Going to pull engine and tranny sometime this week. Then work on stripping the rest of the stuff off the frame so we can sand blast it.
-
Don't waste your time with the POR-15 and similar products. When you sandblast it, you may consider getting it powder coated. If I could do mine again, that's the way I would go!
BTW: I had the most fun working on the frame... nothing like blasting away brown dried on gum-like grease and dirt! ;D
-
Oh yeah , cleaning those old frames are real fun !!! been there done that !!
-
Well it been a little more than later in the week but it's out. Will have to try to keep the momentum going. Jenn keeps distracting me with snapped axles, bearing failure, a smoked winch, building her D44s .

A rolling CJ3A chasis won the Best Work in Progress trophy last year! (Hint, Hint.) ;)
-
I'm thinking that calling yourself "Mr.Jeepnharleymomma" might have been an error.... :D
-
::) Yeah Jack I fixed that . You know it did sound funny to myself last night after few ,well many beers LOL ;D

Some of my better posts have been induced by Tequila or Scotch! ::)
Wow! Now there's a surprise! ;)
-
Well I typed up a lengthy post about the progress that has been made and it disappeared om me >:(. So just know I am in the process of reassembling it , and I will post some pics later.
-
my wheels and tires are done....frame is done....he is currently working on the rear leaf springs (cleaning and painting them). Thanks babe for working on the Willys. Hopefully i will get some time to help him.
-
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh8/fxstdavew/2011-12-18_15-07-09_65.jpg)
Frame back to a roller , up next powertrain back into the frame.
-
Hi Jenn, What for paint did you use on the frame?
-
That is plain old, brush on rustoleum. Satin black. You can't see any brush marks. I decided to use this instead of powder coat or pors and epoxy frame paint because it's the easy to repair if it gets scratched. Just scuff it up slap on more paint and its good to go.
-
Thanks for the information. How did you clean the frame ? What for primer did you use on the frame before you painted it ? I am going to do a frame for my CJ -7. that is why I am asking these questions. Thanks again.
-
I steam cleaned it first, than used a wire wheel on a hand held grinder. Sand blasted the joints, seams and hard too get too spots. Wiped it down with metal prep than used a self etching primer than paint.
-
Well no pics yet , but the rolling chassis is only a couple wires away from starting and driving.Once I know everything works The tub will be going on for final mock up and body work. Than the tub will be taken off again and get painted.
-
Well finally will update with pics. I dont have many tech pics of this build. I just dont pause to take any. It's just progress stuff. I just looked through and Jenn deleted all the pics, so I will start from the beginning.

Seems like ur having more problems with Photobucket then the build ::)
Looks good!

Maybe it's just easier this way.http://s252.photobucket.com/user/fxstdavew/library/Cj2a

Hi Jenn,
That CJ2A is looking good. Where did you get all of your parts for it? I have a 1946 CJ2A. I bought it in Feb. 2013 and havn't done anything to it yet. Just finished a frame off on my 1985 CJ-7 in July. Thanks, Mark

Walacks Is the main vendor we dealt with.
