Technical Advice and Questions / T150 Rebuild question
« on: December 06, 2013, 11:47:46 pm »
Rebuilding the T150 from my 79 CJ-5 (slowly - been stalled on the entire project over a year).

About have it back together and checking engagement of all the gears and not sure I have reverse and neutral set up right.  Anybody that knows how she oughtta engage want to trade a few beers for a checkup of it?  Would hate to find out it's wrong before I put it back under.

Have a rebuild kit from Novak and the factory service manual I've followed, so I think I've done OK with it but just want to be sure.

Or any ideas of a shop that might only charge a few bucks to go over it would be appreciated too.  I'm right in York near Mt Rose and I-83.

Thanks
Chris

Technical Advice and Questions / T150 rebuild stuck
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:04:13 pm »
Workin on the T150 for my '79 CJ-5 project and can't get the damn thing back together.  Stuck at trying to seat the output bearing housing and the clutch shaft bearing into the case.  They both will seat but only one at a time....hammer one in, other one pops out.  Like the mainshaft is 1/4" too long or something, drivin me crazy!

Have had the mainshaft back out to check everything, I know the dogs in the shift rings need to line up with the notches on the syncros, that was causing part of the problem but now everything's lined up properly and still can't seem to make it work right.

Thinkin about taking it to a shop to let somebody else take a shot at it, is there any trans shop in York that would be good workin on older stuff?

It's probably something stupid that I've missed, or just a trick I don't know about....the factory manual just says "seat with a rawhide mallet" but there's definitely something else to it!

Thanks for any advice

Chris

General Discussion / Susquehanna Jeep - Warranty Work
« on: August 12, 2011, 03:24:49 pm »
Hey all,
Haven't really needed any warranty work in the 6 years I've owned my wrangler, but it has a front axle seal leak and should be covered by the 7/75 powertrain warranty.  I am dropping my wife's grand cherokee out there on Monday to have them do the exhaust manifolds (ouch) and I stopped by today to check the place out, they seemed kinda lukewarm about doing the axle seal under warranty when I asked if they'd look at it and suggested it should be covered.

Have 33's and a 3" lift, nothing crazy....not that that should affect the axle seal anyway.

Are they good for Service work?  And should I expect a hassle over warranty work?

Thanks for any suggestions
Chris
