Title: XJ NSS Replacement
Post by: Rusty XJ on February 05, 2013, 07:02:36 pm
I recently replaced the neutral safety switch in my grandfather's 96 XJ. I tried to rebuild it but broke it trying to man handle it off.  Anyway I adjusted it fully clockwise. It starts in P and has reverse lights, it however will not start in N.  I have tried several different positions of adjustment and it just WILL NOT start in N.

Anyone have any insight as to what I might be missing here?

I bought it from Advance Auto

Here is the listing. Said it was exact fit for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 AW4

Blame it on American Manufactures with oversea factory's, they make lots of money, and the American Consumer pays dearly! >:( >:( >:(
China,Mexico,Taiwan, they can't even make a nail that works right.

Suppose I will swap it out for a new one and see where that gets me. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Rusty XJ, I looked up On Line "nss for a 1996 xj jeep" lots of interresting stuff about other
peoples problems and there fixes, and links to sites even one from the guys at JP MAGAZINE.
It's all just information, GOOD OR NOT SO GOOD I don't know,  but you may just get a better though on what is going on with your NNS.
And maybe you have already been there, just a though.
