Rear axle swap

Has anyone heard of swapping a ZJ rear axle into an XJ? The ZJ's came with rear disc brakes, I believe, and used the 8.25 rear axles in the 1993-1998 run but I haven't heard of anyone trying to swap one into an XJ. I was thinking this could be an alternative to doing a rear disc brake conversion. I can't see Mopar using two different size axles between the ZJ and XJ of those years.

Never mind  After looking around the net a little more. I discovered the ZJs either had a Dana 35c or a Dana 44 with an aluminum housing. Now I know why it's never been done.

I know it doesn't help you out but, I am happy about my soon to be axle swap. After searching everywhere for a Dana 44 rear, I found one. Only catch is it's a 10 hour drive to pick it up. But for the price of $500 bucks including the 4.10 gears detroit softlocker and an added bonus dana 30 with 4.10s, you can't pass it up. That's like $1500-$2000 of stuff there. Now I will follow Jack with less hesitation.

I don't think I can go any lower than 14 mpg. Sheesh what a pessimist

OMG, my tow rig does that with a full bed and the Jeep-N-Trailer behind...
