Kev, You get the bumper on and I'll help you with the winch.

I have a Rugged Ridge winch plate on, it mounted perfectly and the strength seems very adequate. It cost about $100 less than a Warn plate.

Kevin,

If you can build an XJ with 35's, I bet you can paint your own dif cover.  ;)

Too cool Mike! You gotta love those Jeeps.

I had one and a half recoveries today. One was a winch job the other was telling the driver what to do to get up the hill. ;D

Oh, I replaced a wiper blade on my rig too.

Blue KJ...nothin like a worthless Hummer. 8)

Scott,
I'm also sorry to hear that. In a effort to cheer you up, please see the attached picture of one of the toughest rigs around. ;D

Your rig was the inspiration for my recent modifications, minimal lift with the largest tires! ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;D

This is the type of opinion Mike was speaking of. ;)

Please, I think Matthew was being very thoughtful.  ;D

#1: He called you for help when he needed it. #2: Nobody got hurt. #3: He was only minutes from home, not like he was stuck on Crawler Ridge at RC! #4: You got to do a real test of your new winch. #5: Best of all... you got to recover an XJ with your Wrangler!  ;)

Rebuttal:

#1: The only time I can find him is when he needs me and his big brother he called first was no where to be found!

#2: I didn't kill him yet!

#3: I'm still gonna kill him!

#4: I could have done that on a warm summers afternoon.

#5: I agree, 4 buddies with 4 XJ's and a little wrangler saved the day.....well, the cold winters night!!!
 ;D ;) ;D

What did you do with your Jeep today!

Last midnight my son Matthew calls and said "Dad, you busy?, I'm a little stuck"

He was about 7 minutes from the house, he slid on a huge patch of ice and went down a snowy bank.

I could not tug him out so I anchored my rig to a tree using my 3" tug strap (no choice) and the two D-rings on my new rear bumper. We looped his tug strap through the front and rear windows of his XJ as a spotter rope. With three of his buddies holding on to the "spotter" strap to keep the all tires grounded, I successfully winched his stuck, skinny little butt out!

BTW, Matthew said he doesn't think my little Warn M8000 is a sissy winch any more.  8)
I'm not sure what to think about getting called out of a warm bed, at midnight on a cold winters eve to recover a bunch of teenagers.  >:(

U-joints purchased. I was a little concerned about the grease zerk placement, looks like they will work fine.

Removed two of the three u-joints from the driveshaft and cleaned it up a bit.
