14th Annual (2009) / Jeep Show T-Shirt Design
« on: April 05, 2009, 09:37:46 pm »
Is their any sneak peak of the 2009 shirt design as of yet?

Also, can I still help out with the show this year even though I'm not a member right now? I was a member last year and I'm signing up at the show for my membership.

Thanks,
Rickie Wilson Jr.

Vendor Feedback / Experiences / Morris 4x4 Center

Morris 4x4 Center

www.jeep4x4center.com

I recently ordered a Warrior front bumper for my Cherokee from them. I looked around the net and at a few of the local shops for this bumper, I wasn't able to find anyone with a cheaper price than these guys. They sent me an email within a few hours telling me it would be coming directly from the factory within 5-7 days and I recieved it 6 days later.

I would consider them again in the future when shopping around for Jeep parts.

I also found out yesterday, after I had already recieved the bumper, that if you put FORUM9 into the checkout you recieve and additional %10 off. Now they tell me  >:(

Technical Advice and Questions / Skid Plates and Bumpers
« on: March 18, 2009, 10:20:08 am »
Alright so I have a few bucks to stick into the XJ and I'm thinking maybe a Warrior Products front bumper with D-Ring mounts and some skid plates. I severely butchered my front bumper with a hack saw when I was cutting for my fender flares. Right now I have the factory skid plates I pulled from my Up Country parts vehicle but aside from the gas tank skid they all look pretty useless as far as protecting my vitals. Anyone recommend any particular skids? I know from experience the transfer case crossmember takes a huge beating, so I'm looking for more towards that area to protect. Also, any used parts for sale I'd be interested in would be cool.

PA Jeeps Membership / Taking some time off
« on: January 20, 2009, 11:05:24 am »
Nothing against PA Jeeps but I've gotta let my membership expire this year around. Although with just one tubing trip it's paid for, I'm laid off and out of a Jeep at the moment. I plan to take this year to find a job and finish getting my Jeep back on the road. I will hopefully have this done by the Jeep show so I can rejoin and enter into the show.

Technical Advice and Questions / Superior/Alloy USA Axle Seals
« on: August 22, 2008, 11:19:40 pm »

Has anyone else installed these front shaft seals on their Jeeps? I have been tyring to figure out if I will need some sort of machined surface on the axle shafts. My axle shafts have some light rust on them and it seems to me that would destroy any seal. I have emailed a few people on ebay who sell them, they just cut and paste the description onto the listing and have no clue what they are selling. I would really like to have a seal on the outer ends of my diff after seeing all the crap in my tubes and some mud in my diff itself.
Thanks,
Rickie

Technical Advice and Questions / Bumpstops
« on: June 23, 2008, 10:49:51 pm »
While I have my axles and pretty much my whole Jeep ripped apart I figured I needed some bump stops. Since the rear factory ones fell off long ago I wanna know how long the ones I buy should be. I am running 32s and maybe 33s soon and I wanna relocate the lower shock mounts higher. Not an expert on it but if the 33s are roughly 6" taller than factory tires, shouldn't the new bumpstop for the rear be 3 inches longer? If you just give me a link on where to buy and which ones that would work.

Technical Advice and Questions / Trac Bar
« on: May 06, 2008, 08:39:50 pm »
I went to install my trac bar tonight and noticed the hole on the axle mount was sort of egged out. I'm sure I can't be the first person with this problem, anyone know what to do here? I think that is the reason the trac bar broke, from shifting back and forth ever so slightly. Or will this not affect anything as long as the bolt is tight?

Technical Advice and Questions / Blowing a fuse
« on: April 08, 2008, 07:07:54 pm »
I was driving home from work today when the engine shut off.  After looking around a bit we found the 30amp maxi fuse for "Engine Control 1" had blown. We stuck another in and it blew as soon as I started it. So after about three 30amps and one 40amp we went to 60 just to get it back to work without a tow bill. It made it back into the parking lot and blew that one as well. So tomorrow I am gonna have to dig the old wiring diagram out and chase this beast. But first I wanted to ask around to see if anyone else has had this problem and aside from physical wire damage what components/modules could be suspect? Its a 95 XJ Cherokee 4.0L 5spd

Technical Advice and Questions / Driveshaft
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:47:41 pm »
Alright, I got my Dana 44 now I need to know whether a shorter driveshaft is in order? I have a Chrysler 8.25 now, 4.5" of lift, 1" transfer case drop, and a 5 speed w/ Selec-Trac transfer case. Anyone else out there had any problems with the same drivesaft being used? Or will the fact that I have the lift make up for the fact that the driveshaft is longer than the one from the Dana 44? I have a little while til I put the Dana 44 in because I am gonna replace the seals and brakes and clean it up. Any information on the subject would be nice. When I searched google a bit all the articles I found say, "You might need to change your diveshaft."

Technical Advice and Questions / Axle Questions
« on: February 05, 2008, 06:36:41 pm »
I'm going to Ohio this weekend to pick up my Dana 44 and Dana 30 with 4.10s from an 89 Cherokee Sport. I was told the Dana 44 has a Detroit Softlocker in it, that's the full on Detroit Locker right? Also, is their any difference between the 89 Dana 30 and my 95 Dana 30? I read somewhere once about the older 30s having vacuum disconnect but my 88 doesnt have it.

Technical Advice and Questions / Wheel Bearings
« on: January 15, 2008, 07:07:38 pm »
Alright, since buying my Jeep I have replaced the R/F hub once and the L/F hub twice. The guys at Advance are starting to give me a hassle about the warranty. I just figured out the R/F needs replaced again. I know the hubs I get from them aren't meant to withstand larger tires and offroad so what are my alternatives? I mean what are my alternatives besides the $1,200 conversion kit from Warn. ???

Technical Advice and Questions / U-Joint Question
« on: December 26, 2007, 10:08:07 pm »
My 95 XJ needs new U-Joints for the driveshafts and I was told by a few people Spicer U-Joints were the best. I can't seem to find anyone who sells Spicer and everyone who sold them previously tells me they stopped stocking them and stock "Precision" brand now.  Anyone know where to buy Spicer or if they even make U-Joints anymore? All I am looking for is a sturdy replacement besides the $3.00 Autozone ones on the front axle  :'(
