I'm new here but have been on NAXJA for a few years now. If you want to run 33's and do it on a budget look up info on cut and folding the rear fenders for clearence and trimming the front. I used ZJ V8 front coils, 2 extra coil isolators as a spacer, and a full XJ stock leaf pack cut down and made into a bastard pack, for 3" of lift. If you extend your bumpstops and brakelines (GM front brakelines and 96 Dakota rear are 6" longer) and get new shocks you can fit 33"s nicely. Then your not up so high that you'd need a SYE and a trackber isn't absolutly needed.
I'd suggest checking out naxja.org and go.jeep-xj.info (not up right now hopfully soon). Those are the best places to learn what you could do with an XJ. And on NAXJA search for their junkyard upgrades thread. Its really helpful and I'd suggest a ZJ V8 tie rod if your going to run 33"s the stock one is little more than a wet noodle with big tires on.
