General Discussion / Not Attending Show This Year
« on: April 20, 2015, 09:57:38 am »
It is with a heavy heart that I'm not going to be at the Show this year.  This will be only the second show I will have missed since joining the club back at like the 8th Show.  Due to some medical issues I've had the last few years and us trying to save for a decent vacation for our 20th Wedding Anniversary coupled with having to make a trip to Ohio a few weeks after the show so our son can see his great-grandfather before he passes...Ray was named after him....it seems best not to attend this year.

Anymore the Show is the only time I get to see everyone other than the Appreciation Picnic.  I will miss seeing all of you this year.  Hopefully next year I will be in better shape medically.

Technical Advice and Questions / Tire Sizes
« on: April 03, 2014, 11:55:08 am »
I for the life of me cannot find the link for a chart that had tire sizes for various Jeeps....

I need to replace the tires on our 2004 Grand Cherokee and I want to put something a, well, little beefier on it that just the plain ole all-terrains that are out there....

Anyone have that chart or the link to it?

OR can someone tell me what is the biggest tire I can fit on a stock '04 Grand Cherokee....I'd love to lift it but I know the wife would kill me!!!  :)

Thanks,
Jim

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: Rotors....
« on: April 03, 2014, 10:41:06 am »
the reason I asked was an Audi A6 we had as well as our Land Rover, when it's time for brakes, the rotors get replaced....you cant turn them....they put them on like right at min spec for weight reduction from what I was told....

Was just wondering if Jeep did/does the same crap

Technical Advice and Questions / Re: Door Surrounds....
« on: April 01, 2014, 11:10:20 am »
Actually...I talked to BesTop and was informed that the design has not changed since I bought mine....the rear window does zip at the top....and was informed that yes, I do in fact need to 'fold' the teeth over to zip it up....and even the person at BesTop agreed with me that the design for the side zippers could be better....go figure

Technical Advice and Questions / Door Surrounds....
« on: February 08, 2014, 03:50:38 pm »
Are they really needed?  I've never had them on my rig with my soft top of 10 years....needing to replace the rear window....however, I think there has been a design change....the teeth in the side zippers of the new rear window dont face the teeth of the old top....

Any advice on this?  I'm going to contact BestTop and see if they have changed the design....

Technical Advice and Questions / Engine Light, Battery Gauge
« on: January 24, 2014, 08:57:21 am »
Ok...the other day, it's like minus 5 outside....start the Wrangler, no issues....let her warm up a bit and then put it in gear....the 'check guages' light comes on...I notice that the battery gauge is pegged to the right....I get to where I'm going and turn it off, turn it back on, battery gauge is back to normal now....but the 'check engine' light is on....I am assuming that is most likely due to the the battery gauge pegging out on me....correct?

Yea, I know....BUT no garage....and that's the issue right now....

I had one place try to tell me that the Grand took a 'special' gear oil for only one of the diffs....I call bullshit of course....

I should just wait till it gets warmer and take care of it....I've done the Wrangler in the past so it's no biggie....just so damn cold right now....

For $300 I would be tempted to travel to you and do the job.
The job takes less than an hour with approx. $70 in seals and gear oil.

Less than that since I buy gear oil in 5 gallon buckets with a pump.

Do the math...
